Prom season is aglow and I always seem to feel more stressed this time of year than ever. The night is over hyped and over done, but for some reason I always bought into it. This, being my last year of prom, made me feel as though I had to make everything perfect. When I say make, I quite literally mean make…
Duh duh duh duh! I made my dress this year. Above is the final product of a long, tedious project. I tried to document the whole process. So, here goes…
I bought this romper at Forever21 for $24.70. I had a rough idea of what to do with it for prom, however it was just an idea.
From there, I went to hobby lobby. I got lucky, rhinestones were on sale for 50% off. I bought a lot of rhinestones, totaling around 30 dollars.
I started by playing with patterns and different ways to lay the stones.
From there, I took off. It was a race.
This whole thing took maybe 8-10 hours and a lot of glue. The hardest part was behind me, and I had a few days left until prom. I still had to finish the skirt.
I cheated a little with the skirt, I went and got it surged. It helped the fabric not to fray and to be more flowy.
Once the skirt was all sewn, I made myself an “L” blinged out with pink rhinestones to act as a belt buckle.
My dress turned out better than I imagined. Although the actual prom was less fun than I had hoped, I still looked fantastic in my mind. Oh and, my shoes were six inches and from forever21 for $32.90.
I am pretty proud of my dress and myself. Altogether my dress was about $80 dollars. Some people chose to spend $800. I found a way to have something I really wanted without breaking the bank. I hope this will inspire you to achieve your goals as well!
